How to Find Balance for Stressed Out Parents
Holy End of the School Year, Batman!
My wife is a teacher. Each day from 7-2:30, she teaches 14 three-year-olds. On top of that, we have two school-aged children of our own. That being said, this time of year is often chaotic and exhausting. End of the year parties, graduation ceremonies, Teacher Appreciation Week, Mother’s Day, Field Day, Boy Scout camping trip, dance recital, and the list goes on and on and on.
There was a season when all these things would have worn me completely out and stressed me to the max.
This week on the podcast, I coached Connie. She's a mother of 4 (all boys - one has autism). Connie is also a full-time college student with no support at home. This mama knows a little something about stress. In her email to me, Connie said, “All of this requires all of me. How do I achieve my personal career goals while being what everyone needs me to be?”

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a balance of practical tools and inner peace, helping you feel a little less rattled?
These days, when faced with a hindrance, I’m mostly able to successfully navigate it with a calm mindset. It is easy to avoid being shaken by adversity when I commit to having inner peace.
And the good news? The same is possible for you when you use a centered existence to carefully think of solutions. Living from a grounded place allows your mind to open, finding more possibilities, helping your soul to seem less shaken.
But what if you’re trying your damnedest to achieve the outcome you’re looking for, and you still feel stuck?
You’ve got to develop an attitude of gratitude. (Start here for free, thanks to my friend Tracy.)
Gratitude will help you find value in your current situation, seeing it as a learning opportunity, rather than some sort of self-made prison. Regardless of what’s happening around you, you’ll begin to tap into that inner purpose which is rarely impacted by outside sources.
At the end of each day, you’ll be emphatically sure of having lived the day with purpose and will. The gift of life produces the desire to live well.

When you live with gratitude at the center of your life, you’re more readily able to enjoy your current circumstances. You begin to see the blessing that is found in everything when you choose to embrace positivity. Remind yourself each morning to start the day with an open mind and heart. Just THINK of the possibilities!
Today, peace reigns in my life. I am at ease, knowing there is a solution to each challenge I face. I am focused on making the most of my situations because there is much to be gained when I take a positive approach.
After the Call
After our coaching call, Connie sent me this message, “Sometimes we're so deep into our state of drowning that we can't see where to go for air. Our conversation was the guiding light to give direction to the surface. I recommend this to anyone swept away by the current of an overwhelming situation or life.”
Connie went onto tell me that she's made a call to a local gym with childcare, so that she can make some "me time" a top priority. Way to go, Connie!
